Yucaipa City Council, District 1

This person represents District 1 on Yucaipa's five-member City Council. Members vote on city laws, the budget, and land use. Council members are elected by district to four-year terms, which are staggered. Each December, the council chooses one of its own members to be Mayor. Voters do not elect the Mayor directly.

The council picks the Mayor from among its own members each December. Voters do not elect the Mayor separately. Chris Venable has held the title since a December 2025 council vote.

This seat is open because incumbent Bob Miller did not file for reelection. Separately, and without implying either caused the other, Miller faced a conflict of interest complaint. It concerned roughly $46,500 in city payments to his wife's afterschool program contract. The council referred it to the state's political ethics watchdog in November 2025. The FPPC took no action against him. The Yucaipa/Calimesa News Mirror reported him "cleared of all accusations" in July 2026.
