Three of Yreka's City Council seats are up this cycle, and six candidates filed for them: incumbent Colleen Baker (the sitting Mayor), plus non-incumbents Ian Davis, Rhetta Hogan, Francisco Gomez, Ben Villegas, and Jason Williams. With six candidates for three seats, this is a genuinely contested race that goes to the ballot -- not a case where the city could appoint winners and skip the election.

This person would hold one of three open seats on Yreka's 5-member City Council for a 4-year term running Dec. 4, 2026 - Dec. 6, 2030: city ordinances, the budget, and land use under a council-manager government, in the Siskiyou County seat (population about 7,800 as of the 2020 Census, incorporated April 21, 1857). Yreka doesn't directly elect a Mayor -- the City's own Council page states plainly that the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tempore are titles "selected from among the ranks of the Council" for two-year terms, not a separately elected office. Colleen Baker, a candidate in this race, currently holds the Mayor title.

Two of the three sitting incumbents whose seats were up this cycle, Drake Davis and Paul McCoy, did not file for reelection. Both are confirmed by the county's earlier planning document as incumbents whose seats were up, and both have their own City of Yreka bio pages independently stating their terms expire November 2026 -- but neither name appears on the county's later certified candidate list. The certified list does include a candidate named "Ian Davis," but this dataset treats him as a different person from Councilmember Drake Davis, not the same person under a different first name: Drake Davis's own city bio describes him as a longtime Yreka resident, a retired school administrator and superintendent, and the owner of Don's Sporting Goods, while the certified list's Ian Davis filed under the unrelated designation "Customer Service Manager" and dropped the "Incumbent" (or equivalent) designation that fellow refiling incumbent Colleen Baker used. A mismatched first name and an unrelated occupation, with no incumbency marker, is stronger evidence of two different people than of a nickname variant.

Yreka is the Siskiyou County seat, which raised the question of whether more than one office was up here. Checked directly: the county's own two Nov. 2026 election documents list only the one City Council race for Yreka -- no separate Mayor's race, no county-level office (Board of Supervisors, Assessor, Sheriff, and similar countywide offices were all decided in the June 2026 primary or aren't up this cycle at all, per this dataset's separate county-level research). Only this Council race appears on the ballot for Yreka voters beyond whatever county- and state-level contests apply everywhere.

Candidate background is asymmetric here, though not sharply so: Colleen Baker has a short official biography and platform statement on the City's own website, while the other five candidates are known only by their filed ballot designations. A genuine search effort (the City's own site, Ballotpedia, Wikipedia, and direct attempts against Siskiyou Daily News, siskiyou.news, the Mt. Shasta News, and the Redding Record Searchlight) found nothing further for any of them; this session's separate web-search budget was already exhausted before this jurisdiction's research began. Baker's bio itself is brief -- a couple of sentences on background and values, not a detailed campaign platform -- so the gap is closer to "a little more" than "a lot more," the same shape already built elsewhere in this dataset for Dunsmuir.
