Yolo County's Board of Supervisors, District 3 seat is an open race heading to a November 3, 2026 runoff: Dotty Pritchard against Mayra Vega. Incumbent Mary Vixie Sandy announced in 2025 that she would not seek reelection. Neither candidate -- nor a third June primary contender, former Woodland Mayor Xóchitl Rodriguez -- cleared a majority in the June 2 primary; unofficial returns had Pritchard leading with 41.86%, Vega second at 32.78%, and Rodriguez eliminated at 25.36%.

The winner serves a 4-year term as one of five supervisors governing Yolo County: setting the county budget, overseeing county health and social-service departments, and deciding land use in the unincorporated areas of District 3, which covers portions of Woodland, West Sacramento, surrounding rural central Yolo County, and the unincorporated communities of Bryte and Broderick.

With the incumbent not running, this comes down to two different kinds of local government background: one candidate's nearly two decades working inside the District 3 supervisor's own office as staff, the other's two elected terms leading a city council seat in the district's largest city. Neither has held the supervisor's seat itself.

Dotty Pritchard

Dotty Pritchard, per the county's own candidate filing, is a County Supervisor's Deputy -- she has served as deputy to the District 3 supervisor for nearly two decades. A fourth-generation Woodlander, she led the June 2 primary field with 41.86% of the vote.

Strengths

Nearly 20 years working directly for the outgoing supervisor on fire, water, homeless, and behavioral-health issues, plus a first-place primary finish.

She has never held elected office herself; her record is drawn from a staff role inside her current employer's office rather than an independent voting or governing record of her own.

She filed her candidacy in March 2026 and finished second in the June 2 primary with 32.78% of the vote. Her campaign has emphasized affordability, public safety, and protecting the county's agricultural economy.

Strengths

Two elected terms on the Woodland City Council, currently Mayor Pro Tempore, with a stated record on housing affordability and childcare policy.

Trade-offs

As a city-level officeholder, she has no direct county-government experience with the department budgets and social-service programs the Board of Supervisors actually oversees.
