Walnut Creek's City Treasurer is a separately elected, citywide office with a 4-year term. Walnut Creek is a General Law city, so its Treasurer holds the default statutory duties set by state law: receiving and safely keeping the city's funds, and reporting monthly to the City Clerk and City Council on receipts, disbursements, and fund balances (California Government Code Sections 41001 and 41004).

Incumbent City Treasurer Ronald Cassano is running unopposed; he was the only candidate who qualified by the filing deadline.
