This person would hold one of six district seats on Vallejo's 7-member City Council (six district councilmembers plus a directly elected, at-large Mayor) governing California's second-largest North Bay city (126,090 residents, 2020 Census): city ordinances, the budget, and land use. A 4-year term. The Council chooses a Vice Mayor from among its own district-elected members rather than voters electing one directly, and a Council-appointed City Manager runs day-to-day operations.

Vice Mayor Diosdado "JR" Matulac is the only candidate who qualified for Vallejo's District 2 council seat -- he's unopposed on the November 3 ballot.

This person would hold the District 2 seat (North Vallejo) on Vallejo's 7-member City Council -- six district councilmembers plus a directly elected, at-large Mayor governing this 126,090-resident North Bay city. A 4-year term.

Both the county's own Candidate Filed Log and the City Clerk's own Final Candidate Roster mark this contest ON THE BALLOT despite the single filer -- California still lets a county print a genuinely single-candidate race rather than cancel it, which is what happens here.

Diosdado "JR" Matulac

Matulac is Vallejo's sitting Vice Mayor and the incumbent District 2 councilmember, filing under the ballot designation "Councilmember / Restorative Specialist." The Vallejo Sun's Aug. 13, 2026 election roundup confirms directly that he "is running unopposed" in North Vallejo. No independent 2026 campaign platform, website, or additional news coverage was found for him beyond his official role and the county's and city's own filing records.
