United States Representative, District 25

Raul Ruiz is an emergency room doctor. He has served this district in Congress since 2013. He grew up in Coachella, the son of farm workers. As a teenager he asked local businesses to help pay for his college, and he promised to come back and serve as a doctor. He later earned three graduate degrees from Harvard, then came home to work in the emergency room. He founded a nonprofit to bring more health care to the Coachella Valley.

Ruiz says his years in the emergency room taught him to solve problems as a team, not to fight over ideas. That is the approach he says he brings to Congress. In May 2026 he accused the Trump administration of corruption over pardons. He said he was writing a bill to stop a president's family from profiting off pardons. The bill had not come up for a vote.

Ruiz promises to keep protecting Medicare and Social Security. He wants to expand access to affordable health care and lower drug costs. He says he will keep fighting for veterans and for cleanup of the Salton Sea.

Joe Males is a Marine Corps veteran and a small business owner. He now serves as Hemet's Mayor Pro Tem. After boot camp and service overseas, he was honorably discharged as a sergeant. In 1996 he started a computer networking business. He was later elected to the Hemet City Council, where he has pushed for better roads and business growth.

Males says he entered politics after his son was murdered near their home in 2016. His son was a Marine, like him. Males says that moment changed his life and pushed him to fight for public safety. In 2021 a court threw out his first election, ruling he did not live in the district when he filed to run. He later won a new election to the same seat.

Males promises to focus on the cost of living, public safety, and government honesty. He wants Congress to spend less and secure the border. He also wants lawmakers to be barred from trading stocks while in office.
