This person would hold one of four district seats on Tracy's City Council, alongside a directly elected, citywide Mayor: city ordinances, the budget, and land use for this San Joaquin County city of about 93,000 residents per the 2020 Census. City Manager Midori Lichtwardt runs day-to-day operations under Council direction. A 4-year term. This is Tracy's first-ever district-based Council election, adopted Jan. 16, 2026 in response to statewide California Voting Rights Act litigation risk. District 3 covers the middle of Tracy, including downtown, extending south to Valpico Road, with Williams Middle School at its western edge.

District 3 pits incumbent Dan Evans, elected in 2022, against two challengers: former school board trustee Ameni Alexander and first-time candidate Ametrius Sidney. Councilman Mateo Bedolla also lives in this district but is running for Mayor instead of seeking this seat.

Dan Evans

In his own candidacy statement, carried in full by Tracy Press, he cites funding secured for a new police substation and three new fire stations; his seat on the South San Joaquin County Fire Authority Board, through which he says he helped fund a firefighter training facility and the city's first EMS surge ambulance; a dedicated economic-development team and strategy he supported, credited with attracting Trader Joe's and Sprouts; support for a "reasonable" business tax under Measure B while opposing higher tax proposals; and a city policy recognizing local military enlistees.

Alexander served on the Tracy Unified School District Board of Education from 2018 to 2022, including a term as board president for 2021-2022 (elected to that role unanimously, per Tracy Press). He ran unsuccessfully for Tracy City Council in 2020 and 2022, per Tracy Press's own election roundup.

Strengths

Four years of elected school-board experience, including a year presiding as board president, plus a stated CFO role in nonprofit finance relevant to city budgeting.

Trade-offs

Two prior unsuccessful Council bids (2020, 2022) suggest a district electorate that has not yet chosen him for this specific office.

Ametrius V. Sidney

Her filed ballot designation is "Public Safety Executive." Sidney is a 24-year Tracy resident and Deputy Director at the County of San Mateo's Public Safety Communications department. This is her first campaign for elected office. Tracy Press's own reporting independently confirms her local civic engagement: in March 2025, the City Council selected her as one of three candidates appointed as an alternate to the city's Measure V Residents' Oversight Committee.

Strengths

A public-safety management career (San Mateo County) directly relevant to a Council role, plus a documented, prior city-committee appointment showing civic engagement before running.

Trade-offs

No prior elected office and no prior campaign for one, so no electoral track record to evaluate.

Her professional public-safety background is out of county, in San Mateo rather than San Joaquin -- worth asking how that translates to Tracy-specific priorities.
