The city clerk runs municipal elections, keeps South Gate's official public records — agendas, minutes, contracts — and administers campaign-disclosure filings. The term is four years, and the office is South Gate's own election authority for this ballot.

With no opponent, the useful question is what the office does, not who to choose. The city's own description of the role is procedural and administrative rather than a matter of policy dispute.
