This person holds the Area 6 seat on the 7-member Solano County Board of Education: it sets policy for the County Office of Education, which runs the Juvenile Court and Community School System, authorizes charter schools, and hears expulsion, interdistrict-attendance, and charter-school appeals from the county's public school districts. A 4-year term.

Solano County's Board of Education Trustee Area 6 seat is open: incumbent Ginger Dunne did not file for re-election, leaving Air Force veteran Tamika Hamilton and Vacaville teacher Kathryn Kedarisetty to compete head-to-head. Because exactly two candidates qualified, the race skips a June primary and goes straight to the November 3 ballot.

The winner serves a 4-year term on the county's 7-member Board of Education, representing Dixon and southeast Vacaville. The board sets policy for the County Office of Education, which runs the Juvenile Court and Community School System, authorizes charter schools, and hears expulsion, interdistrict-attendance, and charter-school appeals from the county's local school districts.

The choice is between two different routes into county school governance: Hamilton's two decades of Air Force service and nonprofit leadership connecting underserved families to county resources, against Kedarisetty's classroom career in the district she herself grew up in and the local teachers' union's direct backing.

Tamika Hamilton

Tamika Hamilton is a retired U.S. Air Force veteran who served more than two decades, including two deployments to the Middle East, and now leads nonprofit work across the Sacramento-Solano region. She is running on parental engagement, student safety, fiscal accountability, and career-readiness programs for the county's students. She announced her candidacy in October 2025, about a year before the election.

She is running on supporting public school educators and putting students first, and carries the Vacaville Teachers Association's endorsement. She opened her campaign in late August 2026, about ten weeks before the election.

A decade in a Vacaville classroom, a UC Davis education degree, and the Vacaville Teachers Association's direct endorsement of her candidacy.
