This person would be one of five supervisors governing Sierra County: the county budget, land use across the county's small unincorporated mountain communities, and county health and social-service departments. A 4-year term. District 2 covers Sierra City, Sierraville, Loyalton, and the Verdi area.

Sierra County's only county-level race on the November 3, 2026 ballot is for an open seat: retired Sierra County Deputy Sheriff and Public Works transportation director Bryan Davey against Navy veteran and small-business owner Sonya Meline, running for Board of Supervisors District 2 -- which covers Sierra City, Sierraville, Loyalton, and the Verdi area. The county's own official candidate list names them as the only two filers, and both campaigns' finance committees remained active well past the June 2, 2026 primary, consistent with this reaching a genuine November contest.

The winner serves a 4-year term as one of five supervisors governing Sierra County: setting the county budget, deciding land use across the county's small unincorporated mountain communities, and overseeing county health and social-service departments.

Neither candidate is the sitting District 2 supervisor. Davey's own campaign site says he would succeed retiring Supervisor Lila Heuer, who is listed among his roughly 180 endorsers. Two other names from that same endorser list independently turn up as itemized donors on his official campaign-finance filing: Lee Adams, whose filing lists his occupation as "County Supervisor" (evidently a currently sitting supervisor), and Peter Huebner, an earlier District 2 supervisor per an older public record. Sierra County's own government pages describing the current Board were not reachable this pass to independently confirm the seat's vacancy.

Sierra County's own post-filing candidate list is the county's complete local roster for this election; besides Loyalton's City Council race, District 2 Supervisor is the only county-level contest on it -- every other county row office was either decided outright in the June 2 primary or sits on a different staggered election cycle. This dataset could not locate the county's own June primary vote totals for this specific race, but both candidates' official campaign-finance committees stayed active well past the June primary date and into the summer, which is consistent with a genuine two-candidate race carrying through to November rather than one resolved outright in June.

Bryan Davey

Bryan Davey retired in December 2025 after nearly two decades with Sierra County Public Works, most recently as Director of Transportation; earlier in his public-service career he was a Sierra County Deputy Sheriff starting in 2004. He also chaired the Sierra City Volunteer Fire Department from 2008 to 2019 and continued as a volunteer firefighter through 2026. Before joining the county, he spent 16 years at Chevron Research Laboratory. He and his wife live in Sierra City, where they raised their son.

Strengths

Two decades of hands-on Sierra County government experience, most recently directing the county's own Transportation division, plus a long record of local volunteer fire service.

Sonya Meline is a Navy veteran who served in the Judge Advocate General's office and now works as a cybersecurity executive specializing in ransomware and data-breach response; she also owns three hospitality properties in Sierra County and founded the Sierra County Visitors Bureau. She moved to Downieville seven years ago and has since relocated to the Sierra City area with her husband and son. Her civic record includes board seats with Sierra Frontier Medical Resources and the Sierra County Chamber of Commerce, and she has led the Downieville Veterans Committee.

Strengths

A locally rooted small-business record -- three hospitality properties, plus founding the county's Visitors Bureau -- paired with a cybersecurity-executive career and civic-board service.
