## On the ballot

- **Alan Wong** — Incumbent
- **Albert Chow**
- **Jeremy Julian Greco**

A nonpartisan office: candidates do not run as Democrats or Republicans, and no party appears on the ballot.

Three candidates are on the ranked-choice ballot for the Sunset's seat. Incumbent Alan Wong — appointed in December 2025, then winner of June's special election for the term's remaining months with 64.37% in the final ranked-choice round (per the city's certified results) — faces Albert Chow and Jeremy Julian Greco, who both also ran in June. November decides the full four-year term.

The winner holds one of 11 seats on the Board of Supervisors, the city-county's legislature. It writes ordinances, approves the budget the mayor proposes, and decides the land-use questions that determine what gets built where. The term is four years, with a two-term limit.

June already tested this field once: Wong won the short term, and both of his June opponents are back for the full one. The practical question is whether anything has changed since — the candidates are the same, the term is four years instead of months, and the ranked-choice ballot lets you rank the field rather than picking once.

## Alan Wong

The sitting supervisor, appointed by Mayor Daniel Lurie in December 2025 and elected in June to serve out the term. Before the board he was a policy director at a children's-services organization, an elected City College trustee, and a legislative aide to former Supervisor Gordon Mar (per the Examiner).

**Strengths:** Already doing the job, with a June election win behind him — 64.37% in the final ranked-choice round — and prior City Hall experience as a supervisor's aide.

**Trade-offs:** A short record in the seat itself: appointed in December, elected in June, so what voters can judge is months of votes, not years.

**Keep in mind:** He holds the seat because of a recall — the district removed its elected supervisor in 2025 — and one of his opponents led that recall campaign. June suggested the district preferred continuity; November re-asks at full-term stakes.

## Albert Chow

Owner of Great Wall Hardware in the Parkside and a longtime Sunset merchant. He organized the 2025 recall campaign that removed Supervisor Joel Engardio, then ran for the seat in June, where he was eliminated before the final ranked-choice round (per the Examiner and the city's certified results).

**Strengths:** Deep neighborhood roots as a longtime small-business owner, and demonstrated organizing ability — the recall campaign he led succeeded.

**Trade-offs:** No government service record to judge, and June's voters ranked him out before the final round months after his recall won.

**Keep in mind:** He is the field's test of whether the recall's energy carries into regular elections — the movement he led removed the last elected supervisor, and June's result suggested it did not transfer to his own candidacy.

## Jeremy Julian Greco

A school campus coordinator, per the Examiner's coverage of the race. Greco ran for this seat in June's special election and returned for the full-term race in November.

**Strengths:** A candidacy from outside both City Hall and merchant politics — their background, per the Examiner, is school staff work rather than government or business advocacy.

**Trade-offs:** The least documented record in the field: no reported government service, and press coverage of the race carries little about their platform.

**Keep in mind:** Sparse coverage is itself information — with no documented civic record, what voters have to go on is mainly their own campaign materials and forum appearances.
