San Pablo's City Clerk is a separately elected, citywide office with a 4-year term: the office keeps the city's official records, prepares City Council agendas and minutes, and administers city elections and campaign-disclosure filings.

Incumbent City Clerk Dorothy Gantt is running unopposed for a full term; she was the only candidate who qualified by the filing deadline.

Day-to-day clerk operations run through an appointed Deputy City Clerk.

Dorothy Gantt

The incumbent, seeking her first election to a full term after being appointed City Clerk in January 2021 (her appointed term runs through November 2026). A San Pablo resident since December 2009, she brings 40 years of clerical experience from the medical field -- as a hospital department supervisor, a physician's-office manager, and a billing clerk. Her community roles include chairing the city's Advisory Committee on Aging and the Senior Center Advisory Board, managing the Senior Center's Bingo program, sitting on the Measure Q/K Citizens Oversight Committee, and a 2018-2021 term on the Planning Commission; she has also served on the Contra Costa County Advisory Council on Aging.
