Sharlene Tipton

Sharlene Tipton is Redding's sitting City Clerk, appointed to the post by City Manager Barry Tippin on July 18, 2023 after predecessor Pam Mize retired, and now runs unopposed for a full elected term. Her path to the office ran entirely through Redding city government: she worked as a recreation specialist at Redding Parks and Recreation while a Shasta College student, spent time in the private sector, then returned to the city in 2008 as an executive assistant in the Redding Redevelopment Agency. When the State of California dissolved redevelopment agencies statewide, she moved into the City Clerk's office, working up through executive assistant, assistant city clerk, and interim city clerk before her 2023 appointment to the top post.
