Novato City Council, District 4

This person would serve a 4-year term on Novato's 5-member City Council. They would represent District 4 in southwestern Novato. Novato's Council is elected entirely by district, to staggered 4-year terms. Each year, the Council picks a Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem. Both come from among its own members. Voters do not elect the Mayor directly.

Four candidates are running for Novato City Council District 4. They are incumbent Pat Eklund, Luiggino Joseph Galletto III, Chris Carpiniello, and Dan Christian. Whoever gets the most votes wins.

Novato's five-member City Council is elected by district to overlapping four-year terms. District 4 covers southwestern Novato. The Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem rotate among council members; voters here are choosing a district representative, not a separately elected mayor.

The choice contrasts a council veteran with three challengers whose experience comes from construction and small business, pastoral and commission service, and entertainment development and design review.

Pat Eklund

Pat Eklund is the incumbent District 4 council member. They were first elected to the council in 1995. They have served seven annual turns as Mayor. The last was in 2020-21. The city's roster says their term ends in November 2026.

Luiggino Joseph Galletto III

Luiggino "Lui" Galletto III moved to Novato after joining Lucasfilm. They have spent more than a decade in entertainment development and strategy. That matches their ballot designation. They live near Scottsdale Pond in District 4. They are an alternate on Novato's Design Review Commission. They run on fiscal responsibility, transparency, commercial revitalization, and better communication with residents.

Chris Carpiniello

Chris Carpiniello is a homebuilder and business owner. They say they have held a California General Building Contractor license since 1987. They also ran for county supervisor in 2026. They cite four decades of project management, budgeting, and estimating. They also cite work with church groups, the Marin Builders Association, and the county Republican committee. They name affordability, housing, and funding shortfalls as their top concerns. They want broad reviews of spending, taxes, fees, and regulations.

Dan Christian

Dan Christian is a Novato pastor, educator, and city commissioner. His campaign says he has led Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and School since 2019. He also serves on Novato's Economic Development Advisory Commission. He wants government that is collaborative, transparent, and fiscally responsible. He links economic growth to funding for public safety, roads, and traffic improvements. He also ties it to funding parks, trails, and gathering spaces.
