Only one candidate, Steven Thornton, qualified for Mission Viejo City Council, District 5 -- incumbent Mayor Wendy Bucknum did not file for re-election -- so Thornton is unopposed on the November 3, 2026 ballot. Your vote here does not change the outcome.

Steven Thornton

The sole qualified candidate. His ballot occupation is listed as "Defense Acquisition Contractor." No independent news profile or campaign website was found for him in this pass -- a documented gap, not a claim about his background.

Running unopposed, he'll take office regardless of turnout or spending -- accountability for his term runs through council meetings and re-election in four years, not through this ballot.
