This person would hold one of five district seats on the Galt City Council, which sets the budget, ordinances, and land-use decisions for this Sacramento County city of about 25,000. This is Galt's first council election by district: after an Aug. 2024 California Voting Rights Act demand letter, the city adopted district-based elections in March 2025, replacing its previous at-large system. A 4-year term.

Only one candidate qualified for this open seat. Mark A. Jackson, a small business owner with no prior Galt council candidacy on file, appears unopposed -- so this contest is settled and your vote here does not change the outcome.

This is one of five district seats on the Galt City Council, which sets the city's budget, ordinances, and land-use decisions. It's a newly created district: Galt elected its Council entirely at-large until a 2024 California Voting Rights Act demand letter pushed the city to adopt district-based elections (Ordinance No. 2025-04, March 27, 2025), so no one has ever previously held this specific seat by direct election to it. A 4-year term.

The sitting Council Member whose term also expires this cycle, Shawn Farmer, did not file for reelection to any district -- so District 1 opens with no incumbent in the running at all.

Mark A. Jackson

The only candidate to qualify for District 1. His filed ballot designation is "Small Business Owner." This dataset searched the city's own site, Wikipedia, Ballotpedia, and general web search and found no campaign website, news coverage, or further biographical detail beyond that self-declared occupation. His campaign has filed only an FPPC Form 501 (candidate intention statement, filed July 22, 2026) -- no earlier Galt candidacy and no Form 460 fundraising report is on file.
