This person holds your district's seat on Claremont's 5-member City Council: city ordinances, the budget, and land use.

Vice Mayor Ed Reece is the only candidate who qualified for Claremont's District 2 council seat, so this contest is settled — the City Council may appoint him directly rather than hold the election. Claremont's council elections run directly in November with no primary.

With no opponent, the useful question is what the officeholder has done, not who to choose. Reece is a two-term incumbent whose council career has centered on regional transportation leadership — chairing the Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority and, since June 2025, presiding over the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments.

Ed Reece

The incumbent Vice Mayor and two-term District 2 councilmember, first elected in 2018 and previously Mayor in 2022-23. Outside the council he is founder and CEO of ISN Global Enterprises, a technology firm, and has chaired the Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority and, as of June 2025, the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments. He is the sole qualified candidate for this seat — no opponent filed by the August 10, 2026 nomination deadline.

Strengths

Two terms in the seat, the vice mayor's chair, and a run of regional transportation leadership — the Gold Line extension authority and, since June 2025, the county-region council of governments.
