This person would hold one of Brentwood's four district-elected City Council seats, alongside a separately, citywide-elected Mayor, on a council-manager government with an appointed City Manager: city ordinances, the budget, and land use for one of eastern Contra Costa County's fastest-growing cities. A 4-year term, decided by whichever candidate gets the most votes -- no ranked-choice voting or June primary is documented for Brentwood.
Vice Mayor Pa'tanisha Pierson did not file for reelection to Brentwood's District 2 council seat, leaving three newcomers -- small-business owner Tammy Zickuhr, Planning Commission Chair Kris Brand, and mosquito-district trustee Vinoy Mereddy -- to compete for the open seat.

Both of Brentwood's Nov. 2026 council races are open seats. Vice Mayor Pa'tanisha Pierson (District 2) and Councilmember Tony Oerlemans (District 4) -- the two incumbents whose terms expire this cycle -- did not file for reelection. Unlike neighboring Martinez, where two similarly unopposed seats were cancelled and filled by direct council appointment, Brentwood's non-incumbent filing period simply reopened for five additional days (through Aug. 12, 2026) and drew three candidates in each district, so both races appear on the ballot as genuinely contested elections. Brentwood's Mayor (Susannah Meyer, term expires Nov. 2028) and Districts 1 and 3 (Faye Maloney, Jovita Mendoza; both term expire Nov. 2028) are not up this cycle, and Brentwood has no elected City Clerk or City Treasurer.
Tammy Zickuhr
Her filed ballot designation is "Small Business Owner." Zickuhr owns Harry's Wine Depot and Tavern in downtown Brentwood and is a co-founder of Vasco Forever Helping Families, a group that has pushed Contra Costa County for safety improvements on Vasco Road, a stretch with a documented history of speeding and crashes.

His filed ballot designation is "Technical Program Manager." Brand is the sitting Chair of the Brentwood Planning Commission; in 2024 he cast the dissenting vote against a Popeye's conditional-use permit, on the record citing the density of nearby fast-food restaurants.

current, hands-on land-use experience as Planning Commission Chair, including votes and comments predating his candidacy.

a Contra Costa News editorial says he used an Aug. 2026 hearing on a county project "for his own campaign benefit" -- its characterization, not this dataset's.

Vinoy Mereddy
His filed ballot designation is "Senior Software Engineer." Mereddy has served on the Contra Costa Mosquito and Vector Control District's Board of Trustees since Oct. 2023 as Brentwood's appointee, on a term now running through Oct. 2029, and has been photographed as a participant at Brentwood's Diwali festival.
