This person would serve a 4-year term as Atascadero's directly elected City Treasurer, responsible for investing city funds consistent with the city's Investment Policy and coordinating with the Director of Administrative Services to help ensure the city can meet its financial obligations.

Appointed incumbent Jeri Rangel is running unopposed for a full term as City Treasurer -- she is the only candidate who qualified for the office.

Atascadero's City Treasurer is directly elected citywide to a four-year term, and is responsible for investing city funds consistent with the city's own Investment Policy and for coordinating with the Director of Administrative Services to help ensure the city can meet its financial obligations -- a role distinct from the City Council.

Rangel was appointed City Treasurer by the City Council in December 2024, filling the unexpired term left by predecessor Gere Sibbach's retirement; this November's election is for a full four-year term.

Jeri Rangel

Jeri Rangel is Atascadero's appointed incumbent City Treasurer, and has served as the city's Administrative Services Director since 2013, overseeing all city finance and accounting operations and a budget of roughly $79 million, per her own candidate statement. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, has over 25 years of local-government finance experience, and is a Certified California Municipal Treasurer -- a distinction she states is held by only 57 individuals statewide -- and a member of the California Municipal Treasurers Association, the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers, and the Government Finance Officers Association. She has lived in Atascadero for 27 years.
