This person holds your district's seat in the California State Assembly (2-year term).
Assemblymember Anamarie Avila Farias took 69.6% of the June 2 vote. Arthur Webb, who has no party preference, took 30.4%. They were the only two candidates on the primary ballot. They meet again on November 3.
The winner holds one of 80 Assembly seats for a two-year term, inside a 12-year lifetime cap on service in Sacramento. An Assemblymember authors bills, sits on the policy committees that decide which bills advance, and argues for the district's share of the annual state budget. A first-term member is still building the committee position that determines how much of that agenda actually moves.

Anamarie Avila Farias
Anamarie Avila Farias is the Democratic Assemblymember for this district. Her father died when she was three, and she began working at 14. Before the Assembly, she was the first Latina elected to the Martinez City Council. She later served on the Contra Costa County Board of Education and on the state's housing finance board. In the Assembly she has authored bills on immigrant protections and childcare funding.
She says she is in it for action, not talk, for herself, her family and her community. In the Assembly, she wrote a bill to stop former ICE employees from becoming California peace officers. The Assembly passed it in May 2026 and sent it to the Senate.
She promises to keep pushing for affordable housing, pointing to a program she created in Martinez that helps homeowners add rental units. She promises more funding for childcare and continued protections for immigrant families. Her office also lists resources for LGBTQ+ residents among its priorities.
Arthur Webb
Arthur Webb has no party preference. He is a retired technology manager with a graduate degree from UC Berkeley. He has not held elected office. He was the only other candidate on this district's June ballot, where he took just over 30% of the vote.
He says he is a moderate independent who believes voters can still steer state government. He has never held elected office, so there is no governing record to weigh. He pledges to reject donations from both major political parties.
He promises to oppose new taxes and to restore the two-thirds vote requirement for tax increases. He wants a smaller state government and stronger election-integrity rules, including voter ID. He also lists reducing homelessness and cutting housing regulations among his priorities.
