This person holds your district's seat in the California State Assembly (2-year term).

Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom took 58.3% of the June 2 vote and Republican Tom Patti took 35.3%, sending both to November; two other candidates split the remaining 6.4%. The district covers most of Stockton along with Tracy and Mountain House.

The winner holds one of 80 Assembly seats for a two-year term, inside a 12-year lifetime cap on service in Sacramento. An Assemblymember authors bills, sits on the policy committees that decide which bills advance, and argues for the district's share of the annual state budget. Rhodesia Ransom

Democrat, the sitting Assemblymember for this district, who took office in December 2024 after serving in local San Joaquin County government. She is lead author of 32 bills in the 2025–2026 session, 4 of them signed into law. She was the only Democrat on the June primary ballot in a four-candidate field.

Strengths

Two years in the seat with 4 bills signed into law, and a first-place June finish with an outright majority of the primary vote.

Trade-offs

Most of her money came from organizations rather than people, so a voter looking for a member without those standing ties is trading that away.

Her legislative record is short — one full session — so there is less to judge than for a longer-serving member.

Tom Patti

Republican, a former San Joaquin County supervisor making his first run for this Assembly seat. He advanced with 35.3% of the June vote, consolidating most of the non-Democratic vote in a field that included a second Republican. He has not served in the California Legislature or U.S. Congress.

Strengths

County supervisor experience covering the same communities the district serves, and he outpolled the rest of the non-incumbent field by 30 points.

Trade-offs

He is running on about three cents for every dollar the incumbent has, and none of his own money came from PACs or party committees.
