Amy J. Wong and Ron Sahu are running for the open District 1 seat. Three term incumbent Katherine Lee did not file for re-election. The deadline was August 6, 2026. Sahu had briefly withdrawn when Lee appeared to be seeking another term. He re-entered once she dropped out.

Amy J. Wong

Amy J. Wong is a public health adviser at the South Coast Air Quality Management District. She is a first generation American. She has served five years on Alhambra's Planning Commission. She is running on neighborhood safety, affordable housing and small businesses. Her list also includes parks and mobility and environmental sustainability. She also wants residents to have more say in City Hall decisions. She led the campaign behind Monterey Park's data center ban. It is described as the first voter approved ban of its kind in the country. She has since brought that fight to Alhambra.

Ron Sahu

Ron Sahu is an environmental and energy engineering consultant. He has lived in Alhambra since 1988. He served on the city's Planning Commission and Environmental Sustainability Commission. He is running on city finances and fees plus transparency and accountability. His list also includes land use planning, housing and transportation. He is active in Grassroots Alhambra. That group was behind the city's district based elections and campaign contribution limit ballot measure. He has organized against development at Story Park. He has also organized against delays on contaminated land near Fremont Avenue.
