This person is Adelanto's directly elected, citywide Mayor: presides over City Council meetings and votes as a full member of the 5-person council (Mayor plus four at-large Council Members) that sets city ordinances, the budget, and land use in this Mojave Desert city. A 4-year term. Adelanto is a charter city (since 1992); all five council seats, including the Mayor's, are elected citywide rather than by district.

Incumbent Gabriel Reyes faces sitting Councilwoman Stevevonna Evans -- a rematch of their 2022 race -- and repeat candidate Ronald Beard on the November 3, 2026 ballot for Adelanto's directly elected Mayor. Whoever gets the most votes wins outright -- there is no primary or runoff.

Beard, who has run for Adelanto office at least twice before without winning (2018, 2022), is making a third attempt.

Gabriel Reyes

Gabriel Reyes is Adelanto's incumbent Mayor. His campaign-finance committee's own filing history traces back to a 2018 Form 410, meaning he has run for Mayor in at least 2018, 2022, and now 2026. His filed ballot designation is "Mayor / Business Owner." In December 2023, after a gang-related brawl at an Adelanto park near the high school, Reyes told the City Council he wanted enhanced park security, stressing "the imperative need to ensure the safety of children at these parks," per Victor Valley News Group's reporting -- City Manager Jessie Flores responded by promising an action plan at the council's next meeting.

Strengths

Roughly eight years as Mayor -- more citywide executive experience than either opponent -- and a documented, dated instance of responding to a real public-safety incident in office.

Trade-offs

No independent news coverage of his broader record was found; his most recent Form 460 filing is on schedule, but its public copy is redacted, so no dollar total could be confirmed.

Keep in mind

Nearly a decade in the Mayor's office is a long tenure -- worth weighing against the continuity and institutional knowledge it represents.

Stevevonna Evans

Stevevonna Evans is a sitting at-large Adelanto Councilwoman, re-elected to her own council seat in November 2024 (2,801 votes, per the city's own roster) -- a seat that isn't up again until 2028. Her filed ballot designation for this race is "Councilwoman." This is her second bid for Mayor: campaign-finance records show a "Committee to Elect Stevevonna Evans - Mayor 2022" (originally opened via a 2018 committee filing) alongside a separate, freshly registered 2026 Mayor committee. She also has an older, unrelated campaign-finance record from a 2019-2020 run for San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors.

Strengths

Currently serving on the council, so she has recent, sitting municipal experience distinct from either opponent; a track record of running for higher office, including a prior countywide bid.

Trade-offs

No independent news coverage of her council record or this campaign was found; her fresh 2026 Mayor committee has no disclosures filed yet, so nothing about this race's fundraising is confirmed.

Keep in mind

She's giving up nothing to run -- her own council seat isn't up until 2028, so a loss here wouldn't cost her the seat she already holds.

Ronald Beard

Ronald Beard is a candidate for Adelanto Mayor whose filed ballot designation is "Customer Service Representative." Victorville Daily Press headlines show he has run for Adelanto office at least twice before without winning: a September 2018 candidate profile ("Beard seeks proof of Adelanto's financial status, payouts to residents in latest pitch") and a September 2022 roundup naming him among that year's mayoral and council field -- the article bodies themselves weren't reachable in this pass, so only what each headline states is used here.

Strengths

Multiple prior runs suggest sustained interest in city affairs and some name familiarity with voters from past cycles.

Trade-offs
