Adelanto City Council

This person would hold one of two open seats on Adelanto's City Council. They vote on city laws, the budget, and land use. A separately elected Mayor also sits on the council. All four Council seats are elected citywide, not by district. Terms are four years and staggered. The other two seats were last up in November 2024. Daniel Ramos and Stevevonna Evans currently hold those seats. Neither is on this ballot.

Incumbents Amanda Uptergrove and Angelo Meza face challenger Jayshawn Johnson. Two at large City Council seats are open on the November 3, 2026 ballot. The two highest vote getters win outright, with no primary or runoff.

Uptergrove and Meza are both seeking another term after first winning their seats in 2022. Johnson is a sitting Planning Commissioner. They previously served on that same commission until being removed from it in February 2020. That came a week after they voted against expanding the GEO Group-run Adelanto ICE Processing Center.

Amanda Uptergrove

Amanda Uptergrove is a sitting Adelanto City Councilmember, first elected in 2022. They are seeking a second term, listed as a Councilmember and Business Owner. Their campaign committee has filed only short form statements, and none yet for 2026. Those are used when a campaign raises or spends under $2,000.

Angelo Meza

Angelo Meza is a sitting Adelanto City Councilmember, first elected in 2022. They are seeking a second term, listed as a Councilmember and Manufacturing Supervisor. Their 2026 campaign committee has filed no financial disclosures yet. Their 2022 committee's three reports were filed nearly three years late, in September 2025. Those covered July to December 2022.

Jayshawn Johnson

Jayshawn Johnson is a sitting Adelanto Planning Commissioner running for City Council. Their ballot title, Appointed Planning Commissioner, matches the city's own roster. They served on that commission before, until they were removed in February 2020. A week earlier they had voted against expanding the GEO Group-run Adelanto ICE Processing Center. Eight months later they ran for office seeking to be a "catalyst for reform."
